The response to criticism of the bill to restrict the use of telephones by military personnel in combat zones was published by the head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, on July 23 on his own Telegram channel.
“First of all, we are not talking about devices used for combat work. Secondly, the bill is aimed at ensuring the safety of military personnel and units. And thirdly, the solution of previously made decisions. Everything else comes from the evil one.”wrote Kartapolov.
It should be recalled that several experts have criticised the draft law, which classifies the use of electronic devices with the function of connecting to the Internet, as well as allowing filming, audio recording and transmission of geographic data, as serious disciplinary offences by the military. According to those who oppose the draft law, the definition of prohibited items is not sufficiently precise and devices that are indispensable for modern warfare risk falling into this category.
