Latvia’s State Security Service has conducted searches at two sites associated with former European Parliament member Tatyana Zhdanok, Rus.LSM reported on July 23.
The searches were reportedly carried out as part of a criminal case launched in early 2024 on suspicion of Zhdanok’s connections to Russian intelligence services. Data carriers, records and documents were seized during the searches.
Tatiana Zhdanok is not believed to be in Latvia at the moment. The investigation against her is associated with the termination of her powers and, consequently, her immunity as a member of the European Parliament.
Recall that Tatyana Arkadyevna Zhdanok has been co-chair of the board of the Russian Union party of Latvia since 1998, and has also been a member of the European Parliament for more than a decade, repeatedly expressing a position that her colleagues call pro-Russian and pro-Kremlin.
