The resignation of US Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle is due to the failure of the department she leads, allowing the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump and the death of an innocent victim, House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer said, the committee’s press service reported on its official website on July 23.
“The Secret Service is supposed to carry out its mission without fail, but under Director Cheatle it has historically failed.”said Comer.
The committee head stressed that the attempted assassination of Trump and the casualties among the civilian population were due to “Egregious security failures”admitted during the election rally.
Comer pointed out that Cheatl “Even more responsibilities await us in the future”.
The congressman also raised the need to conduct a full analysis of how the security breaches occurred in order to prevent them in the future.
Recall that on July 13, during an election rally in the city of Butler, Pennsylvania, American Tom Crooks shot former US President Donald Trump.
It should be noted that on July 22, Cheatle testified in Congress about what happened in Butler.
We also note that on July 22, Kimberly Cheatle announced that she had no intention of resigning. “I believe I am the most appropriate person at this time to lead the Secret Service.”said Cheatle.
