The issue of improving the international monetary and financial system was discussed on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro by representatives of the BRICS countries, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Finance reported on July 23.
“On July 23, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on the sidelines of the G20 meeting, the third meeting of deputy finance ministers and central bank governors of the BRICS countries took place within the framework of the presidency of the association by the Russian Federation. During a joint session of the country’s finance ministries and central banks, preliminary agreements were reached and progress was discussed on the key priority of the Russian presidency – improving the international monetary and financial system.– reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting participants discussed a draft joint statement of the finance ministers and central bank governors of the BRICS countries, the provisions of which will be reflected in the statement of the leaders of the countries. The Russian Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia will then submit a report to the leaders of the BRICS countries, which will contain a list of initiatives and practical recommendations.
The final meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the BRICS countries will be held in Moscow in October 2024.
