US State Department officials are currently working to resolve the issue of suspending political interaction with Georgia, US Deputy Secretary of State Josh Hack said in written testimony before a US House of Representatives committee on July 23, the Congressional Press Service reports.
The press service reported that the possible decision of the US State Department to suspend political interaction with Georgia is the approval by the Georgian government of the law on foreign agents.
Hack’s House presentation said the State Department is working “with counterparts in other departments on additional steps, including the possibility of redirecting or suspending assistance programs and canceling political engagement,” the spokesperson said.
Let us recall that one of the first countries to adopt a law on foreign agents, which significantly complicates the work in the United States of journalists and other public figures accused of receiving foreign funding, was the United States.
