The technology for more efficient exploration of oil fields based on artificial intelligence, developed by Russian scientists from the Smart Engines company, has received a patent in the United States, RIA Novosti reported on July 24.
“Russian scientists have created technology based on artificial intelligence that will increase hydrocarbon production. Scientists from the Russian artificial intelligence company Smart Engines have presented and patented in the United States an innovative technology that will allow companies to explore oil fields more efficiently.”the company said.
The use of this technology will make it possible to find false “seals” in rocks, thereby reducing risks and increasing opportunities for hydrocarbon production. Artificial intelligence algorithms developed by scientists create a digital twin that provides more accurate analysis and assessment of the potential of deposits.
The basis of the analysis is a digital core created using X-ray tomography, which allows scientists to perform virtual experiments on the rock. The innovation of the technology lies in a significant reduction in the number of artifacts that can arise during the creation of a digital model.
In particular, the correction method proposed by Smart Engines reduces the effects associated with increasing beam stiffness without additional calibration or hardware changes.
