In a multipolar world, every country has freedom of choice, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on July 25, commenting on Washington’s criticism of New Delhi-Moscow relations, Hindustan Times reports.
He stressed that Russia and India have long-standing relations based on mutual interests.
“In a multipolar world, all countries have freedom of choice. It is imperative that all recognize and appreciate these realities.”said Jaiswal.
This was the comment made by Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu, who spoke in Congress and said the State Department was disappointed with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Moscow.
The official noted that India is reducing arms purchases from Moscow and Washington is actively involved in this process.
