The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, said on February 14, in an interview with journalists, the reasons for the absence of possible actions by Armenia in the Lachin corridor.
According to him, Armenia has taken many measures to unblock Nagorno-Karabakh, but has not taken any possible measures in the Lachin corridor.
“The document of November 9 imposes these obligations on Russia and Azerbaijan, and we expect them to comply with them”Gregoryan pointed out.
He also commented on the EU civilian mission in Armenia. The Secretary drew attention to the fact that this decision was not imposed by the West, but was taken exclusively by the Armenian side, taking into account previous experience.
“In May and November 2021 there was an attack on the sovereign territory of Armenia, the same one in September last year, and given the experience that existing military guarantees do not work, Armenia invited the EU civil mission to create certain guarantees. . Security guarantees are not only military, but also economic”Grigoryan said.
He also referred to Moscow’s assessments of the deployment of the EU mission in Armenia, noting that he could not speak on Russia’s behalf about these concerns. According to him, the dialogue with Moscow is ongoing, questions and proposals are being considered.
“For example, we say that in recent years there have been attacks on the sovereign territory of Armenia, that the danger remains, and to neutralize it it is necessary to create international guarantees”– added the secretary of the Security Council.
Regarding the normalization of relations with Turkey, Grigoryan noted that Armenia is ready and willing to open the border with Turkey at any time.
