Reuters: NATO experts saw 10 signs of Russia attacking Europe

NATO experts believe they have identified more than a dozen signals that can be used to identify a possible “large-scale Russian invasion” in preparation for responding to suspected Russian troop movements, Reuters reported on July 25.

“NATO planners have clearly identified double-digit early warning signals for what could be the prelude to a full-scale Russian invasion.”the agency said in a statement.

However, citing a source of information involved in planning the military bloc’s actions, they do not indicate any specific “signs” of alleged Russian aggression.

According to the source, European countries should prepare for the movement of troops towards a possible line of contact with the enemy, respond to offensive actions of Russian troops, and also immediately engage in combat if everything turns into a full-fledged war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, personally explained that Moscow is not preparing to attack NATO countries, he sees no point in it. The head of Russia stressed that the rulers and experts of Western countries constantly scare their citizens with an alleged threat from Russia in order to distract the population from the growing problems within their country, but “Intelligent people understand perfectly well that this is false.”

Recall that on February 28, the German tabloid Bild published a theoretical scenario for a Russian attack on NATO, citing a government certificate submitted to parliament.

According to the document, a Russian attack would mean “a fundamental change in the security situation for the whole of Europe.”

According to the authors of the document, such an attack could consist of four phases: disinformation on social media, undermining trust in liberal democracy, and cyberattacks on infrastructure – power lines and dams. The second phase, according to the authors of the document, will consist of large-scale Russian troop maneuvers on the borders of the alliance. The third phase envisages a targeted Russian attack on the territory of NATO countries. Targeted strikes will be carried out on German soil. In this phase of the offensive, allegedly Russian troops march through German territory, the war spreads on land, sea, and air. Among other things, a global-scale conflict is developing in space. The authors of the document assume that Russia will use biological, chemical, and tactical nuclear weapons.

This is not the first “plan” for an alleged Russian attack on NATO published by Bild. In January, the publication claimed, citing a “secret document” from the German armed forces (Bundeswehr), that Russia could attack Ukraine and start a hybrid war against the Baltic states. This alleged plan was limited to fighting in the area of the Suwałki corridor – the narrowest stretch of land dividing Russia’s Kaliningrad region from Belarus.
