The consequences of a simulated artificial accident at a chemical industry enterprise were eliminated by servicemen of the Baltic Fleet’s NBC protection unit within the framework of a planned field exercise, the Information and Communications Department of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on July 25 on the official Internet portal.
NBC protection units arrived at the liquidation area of a simulated artificial accident and cordoned off the contaminated area. Degassing and decontamination stations were set up on the roads.
Crews of radiological and chemical reconnaissance vehicles conducted environmental monitoring. Servicemen from the NBC protection unit performed combat training tasks for decontamination and decontamination of terrain, equipment, weapons and objects in the simulated contamination zone. In addition, work was carried out on eliminating the consequences of a man-made accident.
To solve the assigned tasks, the military used special equipment that is in service with the RCBZ small unit (chemical and radiological reconnaissance vehicles, automotive laboratories with equipment that allows automated transmission of collected data to the fleet headquarters). In total, more than 100 servicemen took part in the combat training event and more than 10 units of military and special equipment were used.
