The name of Red Army soldier Dmitry Sysoevich Volobuev, whose remains were found in the Novgorod region, was established from a note on a soldier’s medallion, the press service of the search expedition “Valley” in memory of N.I. Orlov reported on the social network “VKontakte” on July 25.
The remains of the Red Army soldier were found on April 27, 2024 by a combined search team of the Irkutsk region, which carried out search work on the Vasilievshchina – Bolshiye Dubovitsy highway, Parfinsky district, Novgorod region. Members of the “Loyalty”, “Patriot” and “Tribute to the Memory” detachments of the Maslovtsy took part in the work.”
When the remains were removed, the searchers found a soldier’s medallion, which was sent for examination. As stated on the page of the consolidated search team of the Irkutsk region on the VKontakte social network, the insert was read. The medallion belonged to Red Army soldier Dmitry Sysoevich Volobuev, born in 1899.
The place of birth of the fighter is indicated in the Altai Territory, the town of Rubtsovsk, Krasnoznamenskaya street, number 41. His wife’s name was Kobzeva Anna Ignatievna. Dmitry Volobuev was called up for service by the Rubtsovsky RVK, his last place of service was the 384th Rifle Division. From the documents it follows that the fighter was killed on August 27, 1942.
A search for the relatives of the deceased Soviet soldier has been announced.
