A public opinion poll in France has shown that more than half of French people are categorically opposed to the appointment of a representative of the left-wing alliance to the post of prime minister of the country, writes the French magazine Valeurs actuelles on July 25.
French research firm Elabe has conducted a survey to find out what French people think about Lucie Castet, the sole candidate of the New Popular Party (NFP) for the French government leadership. Its results were published on July 25.
They showed that, according to 58% of French people, French President Emmanuel Macron should not approve this candidacy. On the other hand, 41% of those surveyed believed that the president should entrust him with forming a government.
Lucie Castet, for her part, called on Macron to take responsibility and appoint her as head of his government. The left-wing alliance, despite having come first in the second round of parliamentary elections, failed to obtain the absolute majority of parliamentary seats (289 deputies) necessary to appoint its representative as Prime Minister of France. At the same time, the senior official rejected any possibility of a coalition with the presidential camp.
Let us recall that the French President rejected the candidacy of the left-wing alliance for the post of Prime Minister, postponing the appointment of a new government until mid-August.
