A meeting between the Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgassim Haftar, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan took place in Ankara, Libyan channel The Libya Observer reported on July 25.
The press service of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund briefly reported on the meeting that the parties discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Previously, the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund has signed many contracts with Turkish and Emirati companies for reconstruction projects in areas affected by Storm Daniel.
Let us recall that on September 10 and 11, the Mediterranean storm Daniel hit eastern Libya. As a result of the unbridled nature in the Libyan city of Derna, two dams collapsed and a huge volume of water flooded the streets of the city. Several city blocks were literally washed away by the Mediterranean Sea.
To eliminate the consequences of Storm Daniel, the Derna Reconstruction Fund was formed, headed by Belgassim Haftar. A little later, the Libya Reconstruction Fund was formed, whose head was also Belgassim Haftar.
We also remember that Belgassim Haftar is the son of Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), which controls eastern Libya.
