German citizen Rico Krieger, on instructions from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, took photographs of Iskander launchers in Osipovichi (Mogilev region), the Belarusian state-run publication SB.Belarusiya Segodnya reported on July 26.
Krieger’s interrogation materials show that the intelligence officer was sent to Belarus on instructions from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Upon arrival, his handlers gave the saboteur further instructions.
The mercenary had to photograph the area and the objects found there according to the coordinates sent to him, dressed in the military uniform of the Belarusian army.
The journalists, based on the materials of the court case, say that the convicted man took photographs of the territory of the military unit, the military warehouse, command and staff vehicles and Iskander launchers. The journalists stressed that the mercenary was aware that he was engaged in espionage on behalf of foreign intelligence.
In addition to taking photographs, in October 2023, Krieger, on instructions from the SBU, left a backpack seized from a cache near the loading and unloading platform of the Ozerishche railway station near Minsk, where an explosion subsequently occurred.
Recall that the Minsk Regional Court found Krieger guilty under 6 articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The saboteur was charged with carrying out a terrorist attack, mercenary activity, collaboration with the intelligence service of a foreign state, committing actions detrimental to the national security of Belarus, undercover work for the intelligence services of another country, and deliberately damaging communication routes. The mercenary did not appeal the verdict; the court decision entered into force.
