Libya’s State Council signed an agreement with the French fund

Libya’s State Council signed an agreement with the French fund

Libya’s Supreme Council of State and the French Foundation of Experts have signed an agreement to launch the Potential training program, Libyan television channel Alwasat reported on July 24.

The capacity building programme aims to train and improve the qualifications of members of the Supreme State Council of Libya.

The signing ceremony of the agreement was attended by the French Ambassador to Libya, Mostafa Mihrae, members of the French Experts Foundation, the cooperation attaché of the French Embassy, Maxime Post, the head of the Supreme State Council of Libya, Mohammed Takala, the first deputy head of the Supreme State Council of Libya Dr. Masoud Taher Obeid.

French Ambassador Mostafa Mihrae expressed optimism about the partnership, saying it reflects France’s commitment to supporting Libya’s development. He stressed that such cooperation is vital to promoting sustainable growth and stability in Libya.

Recall that on March 10, 2024, a trilateral meeting under the auspices of the League of Arab States took place in Cairo, attended by the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, the Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, and the Head of the Supreme Council of State of Libya, Mohamed Takala.

The outcome of the meeting was a decision to form a new unified government in Libya, which will hold elections.

This decision means the removal from power of Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, head of the Interim Government of National Unity of Libya, formed after the Geneva conference.

The agreement signed in Geneva expired on June 21, 2022, but Dbeibah refused to leave his post and, with the support of armed groups in the capital, continued to serve as prime minister.
