A court decision has been made in Adygea in the case of compensation for environmental damage in the amount of more than 1.5 million rubles caused by the former district head Alexander Butusov, the joint press service of the courts of the republic reported on July 26.
As part of the consideration of a civil case, the Giaginsky District Court found that Butusov, while holding the position of district head, caused serious damage to the environment due to illegal handling of environmentally hazardous waste.
In particular, he organised the illegal dumping of waste containing hazardous chemicals on agricultural land, resulting in the contamination of an area of over 2,000 square metres.
Butusov’s actions, aimed at avoiding punishment for failure to comply with a previously issued court decision on the reclamation of an illegal landfill, included orders to his subordinates to conceal municipal waste, which served as the basis for initiating criminal proceedings against him on charges of abuse of office in October 2020, for which Giaginsky In June 2023, the court already imposed a fine of 100 thousand rubles on him.
