The judge investigating the wife of the Spanish president has rejected Pedro Sanchez’s request to give a written statement this Friday and has scheduled a hearing for the 30th at the official residence.
In the decision, which is subject to appeal, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado said Pedro Sánchez was summoned as Begona Gómez’s husband, not as the prime minister, as that would have meant a written statement.
However, the Madrid judge specifies that if he considers that he can “effectively” collaborate with justice by conveying “relevant facts that have come to his attention due to his position” as president of the government, Sánchez can inform him of this on Tuesday … fairly and therefore provide a new written statement.
