The decision to allocate additional funds worth 20 million euros for the purchase of military drones and training of instructors was made by the Lithuanian authorities, Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurynas Kaciunas announced on social network X on July 26.
“More drones for the Lithuanian army! We have agreed with the Ministry of Finance to allocate an additional 20 million euros this year. (1.85 billion rubles – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna) for combat and reconnaissance drones, as well as for training drone instructors and operators using valuable Ukrainian experience.”Kasciunas wrote.
Recall that in 2024 Lithuania’s military budget will exceed 3% of GDP. Lithuania is also actively purchasing UAVs. Thus, on July 22 it became known that the Lithuanian border guards plan to purchase a long-range UAV system for 4.6 million euros (430 million rubles), which they will use, among other things, for reconnaissance tasks. The Lithuanian Military School of Major General Stasis Rashtikis has developed a course for training FPV drone operators.
