The United States should first pay its dues to the UN before trying to teach others how to provide humanitarian assistance, Russia’s permanent representative to the world organization Vasily Nebenzya said on July 26 at a UN Security Council meeting on the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
At a Security Council meeting convened by Russia, China and Algeria, US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Robert Wood said that Russia allegedly “It does not help to resolve humanitarian crises, but rather creates them”The Russian diplomat responded harshly to this attack by the American representative.
“Russia provides humanitarian aid to Palestine through the state, the public sector and the World Food Programme. The Palestinians are well aware of this. And in general, colleagues, a friendly piece of advice for you: before you lecture others, pay at least your contribution to the UN and stop causing a liquidity crisis, which is also slowing down the humanitarian efforts of our Organization.”said Nebencia.
The Russian permanent representative noted that if the United States spent even a small portion of what it spends on supplying weapons to hot spots on humanitarian aid to Gaza and other needy regions, the world would be a different place.
“Billions of dollars for weapons for Israel, including $6.5 billion (555 billion rubles – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna) after October 7, 2023, and tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine for weapons that are killing thousands of Palestinians and Ukrainians. This is Washington’s real contribution.”“, Nebenzya stressed.
It should be noted that the US debt to the UN is estimated at more than $1 billion (85.5 billion rubles), while Russia has fully paid its contribution for 2024.
