More than one million tons of grain were harvested by agricultural workers in the Tambov region during this year’s harvest season, the press service of the regional administration reported on July 27.
The total volume of grain harvested in the region has reached 1.23 million tons so far. One third of all areas sown with grain have been threshed. At the same time, the average yield was 33.7 centimes per hectare.
The best results were achieved by farmers in Petrovsky and Rasskazovsky municipal districts, as well as in Staroyurevsky and Pervomaisky municipalities.
This season, due to spring frosts, it was necessary to replant cereal crops. As a result, the previous level of sown area of 1.9 million hectares was maintained. However, farmers predict that this year’s harvest will be slightly lower than last year’s.
