The Russian Federal Security Service has released footage of an operational video in which those arrested for planning a terrorist attack in Kaspiysk admitted that they were going to blow up the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The video of the detainees was published on July 27 by the press service of the department.
“We came to the conclusion that we must commit jihad. Mohammed and I decided to make a bomb. We came to the conclusion that one of the options is to blow up the church at the end of Lenin, opposite the Molot gymnasium, – said one of the detainees during the interrogation.
Also in the released video, his accomplice said that according to the original plan, the attack on the church would be carried out with knives, but he convinced other militants that they would need more serious weapons, and the third participant in the preparation for the attacker admitted that he volunteered to look for a firearm and prepare an explosive device.
“I bought components for an explosive device and learned how to make it on the Telegram channel”– said the suspect.
In addition, according to the detainees, their plan included an attack on law enforcement officers patrolling the streets, as their circle considered them “kafirs” who could be killed.
One of the militants said that the criminal group paid special attention to the conspiracy; for example, they agreed to call their firearms. “Fishing rods”and the explosive device is “spar”.
