Estonia’s secret police have launched an investigation into the sending of children from the republic to Artek, Foreign Minister Lauri Läänemets said in a message posted on Facebook on July 26 (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
“I passed the information on to the police and KaPo (security police – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna), and was also ordered to verify this information; production has already begun; Employees of the Police and Border Guard Department have been instructed to pay special attention to minors crossing the border.”wrote Läänemets.
The minister, who is traditionally from the Baltic states, described the camp as propaganda and hostility towards Estonia. He also said that Crimea is a war zone and sending children there means exposing them to danger.
Recall that in July 2024, a group of children from the “Russian” north-east of Estonia was sent to rest at the international centre Artek. It later became known that a certain social activist reported this to the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic. The ministry condemned the organization of the trip and reminded that the Estonian authorities do not recommend residents to visit Russia in any way.
