The number of people leaving Uzbekistan to permanently reside in Russia decreased by 2.1 times compared to the same period in 2023, according to the report “Demographic situation in the Republic of Uzbekistan (January-June 2024), published on July 25 by the press service of the agency.
“The largest share of those leaving the Republic of Uzbekistan to permanently reside abroad is from Kazakhstan (81.5%). This is followed by the Russian Federation (15.0%), Kyrgyzstan (0.7%), South Korea (0.7%), Turkmenistan (0.3%) and other countries (1.8%).the report says.

It is noted that the number of Uzbek citizens who emigrated to Russia in the first half of 2024 decreased by 2.1 times compared to the same period last year and now amounts to 760 people.
It is reported that in the first half of 2024, a total of 5,066 people left Uzbekistan to seek permanent residence. Moreover, in 2023, during the same period, 9,004 people went abroad in search of permanent residence, of which 17.6%, or 1,584 people, went to Russia.
It should be noted that, according to the data of the statistical agency, in 2023 the number of citizens of Uzbekistan who applied for permanent residence in Russia compared to 2022 increased by 1.9 times and then reached 2.67 thousand people.
