Former US President Barack Obama threatened current leader Joe Biden with impeachment under the 25th Amendment for participating in the election, journalist Seymour Hersh reported, RIA Novosti reported on July 27.
In his report, Hersh discusses Obama’s call with Biden, during which he warned him of the possibility of invoking the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to remove him from office if he refused to voluntarily withdraw from the race.

This amendment provides for the possibility of removing the president in the event of his incapacity, transferring powers to the vice president. According to Hersh, at the time of the call it was already clear that Harris would receive the support of the Democrats as a candidate for the presidency of the United States.
The call comes as Democratic donors express reluctance to continue funding the party while Biden, whose sanity has been questioned, remains its presidential nominee.
It should be noted that the US presidential election, in which Biden was expected to be nominated by the Democratic Party, is scheduled for November 5.
