BRICS membership has significant potential for Malaysia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said in a post published on July 28 on his X account.
Ibrahim wrote that he held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The meeting took place at the residence of Malaysian Prime Minister Seri Perdana in Putrajaya. Communication “mostly concerned” Malaysia joins BRICS.
“Membership [в БРИКС] “has significant potential for both countries and underlines our commitment to strengthening international cooperation”“, the Malaysian politician stressed.
He also said that Malaysia recently sent a request to join this organization to Russia, which is now its president.
Recall that on July 10, the Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko stated on the Rossiya 24 TV channel that the queue for joining BRICS includes 24 candidate countries.
