Relations with neighboring states, as well as with those countries that support Iran to exert pressure on it, were considered a priority by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, on July 28 during the confirmation ceremony of the country’s elected president.
“We have foreign policy priorities. One of our priorities is our neighbors.”– he said. “One of the priorities is to build strong relations with the countries that have supported and helped us during these years under pressure.”added the Supreme Leader of Iran.
Khamenei also called the development of relations with countries in Asia and Africa a priority, “that can expand the reach of our diplomacy”. At the same time, he stressed that he does not mention relations with European countries as a priority because “During these few years they did not treat us well”.
The Iranian leader mentioned the use of sanctions, oil-related issues and others, citing false statements about human rights violations in Iran as examples. “They did bad things”“He said, noting that if European countries no longer notice such actions, relations with them will return to the list of priorities of Iranian foreign policy.
