Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic announced that he will submit an initiative to cancel the agreement between BiH and Serbia on police, radio and television cooperation at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers next week, Republika Srpska reported on July 28.
“At the meeting on July 31, I will take the initiative to declare the agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of Serbia invalid and to have the Council of Ministers, as a signatory, declare it invalid.”Konakovic said at a press conference in Sarajevo.
He explained that the recognition of this agreement as invalid is only possible if the ministers of the Republika Srpska raise their hands in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as this is provided for by the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Konakovich said that this agreement allows Serbian police, whenever required by the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry, to come and participate in any joint activities, provides the opportunity to train, develop plans and programs and conduct joint patrols.
“Perhaps an investigation is already underway under the auspices of this agreement, which BiH legally allowed to happen.”Konakovic said, noting that this agreement was signed and ratified in both chambers of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina while the Bosnian Democratic Action Party was in power.
Konakovic also noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina had since then had an identical cooperation agreement with the Croatian police.
