Employees of the Côte d’Or department discovered a letter sent to the head of the French Ministry of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, containing the plague virus, Parisien reported on July 28.
The corresponding package was found at the post office in the sorting centre. The fine black powder aroused suspicion.
Experts from the NRBC-E division, which analyzes hazardous substances, conducted research on the dust. As a result, the plague virus was discovered.
The contents of the letter have been sent to the Pasteur Institute for further examination. The results should be ready on Monday.
The public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into this incident.
Let us recall that the head of the Ministry of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, has already received threats against him. In the autumn, he denounced that anonymous messages had been sent in bulk threatening his life and health. “Obviously far right”.
