Early this Sunday morning, the Arcos de Valdevez PNP detained the driver of a jeep that had fatally hit a motorcyclist in Aboim das Choças. The 32-year-old man, a resident of the parish of Arcos de Valdevez, fled the scene after the violent collision, which resulted in a fire, and called the GNR to report the theft of the vehicle.
The military went to the applicant’s home and quickly realized that he had been involved in an accident. The driver was tested for alcohol and, despite the fact that several hours had passed since the accident, his alcohol level was still 1.20 grams per liter. He was arrested.
The accident occurred yesterday at 21:30 in Busas. A 56-year-old motorcyclist was caught on the side of the road by an all-terrain vehicle that was already on the road. The motorcycle was dragged several meters under the jeep and eventually caught fire. The motorcyclist died on the spot, his body partially burned.
The driver will appear in court tomorrow. You could be the victim of a murder due to gross negligence, drunk driving and failure to render aid.
