A prototype of the flying taxi, which is expected to operate in Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara (OIKN), was tested at Aji Pangeran Tumengung Airport in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, ANTARA wrote on July 29.
“This unmanned aerial vehicle (AUV) flew for about 10 minutes at an altitude of 50 meters and a speed of 50 kilometers per hour.”“, said OIKN Deputy for Environmental and Digital Transformation, Mohamed Ali Berawi.
The trial of flying taxis in Nusantara is the first step in implementing an efficient and environmentally friendly urban air transport programme in Indonesia, the official said.
“This is proof of our commitment to developing the transport technologies of the future”He noticed.
Berawi also said that the administration plans to not only purchase finished AUV products, but also master their development and manufacturing.
“We want to create an open innovation ecosystem where different parties can collaborate to develop this flying taxi technology.”he said.
Meanwhile, to achieve this goal, OIKN is collaborating with various strategic partners, both local and international. Cooperation was established with Hyundai Motors to develop a prototype of a flying taxi.
Flying taxis are expected to boost the development of Indonesia’s civil aviation industry.
“We will continue to conduct research and development to improve the safety and practicality of flying taxis. We will also work with central and regional governments to develop rules for the operation of public air transport.”“Berawi said.
