Recall that on July 29 at 12:35 on the Gremyachnaya – Kotelnikovo section, a KamAZ truck ran a red light at a railway crossing and collided with a passenger train. As a result, nine carriages derailed and seven of them overturned. The driver himself survived, but suffered traumatic brain injuries and was hospitalized. Russian Railways specialists noted that at this point the crossing is clearly visible from a great distance.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident under the article “Violation of traffic safety rules and operation of railway, air, sea and river transport and metro”. To restore traffic, Russian Railways sent two recovery trains to the scene.
To evacuate the victims, the regional authorities used 32 ambulance teams, a helicopter and an ambulance plane. The victims are temporarily accommodated in temporary centres set up on the basis of hotels and social institutions.
