Children from Sochi were on board the Kazan-Adler train that derailed, returning from a competition in Kazan, Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin said on his Telegram channel on July 29.
According to Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin, all the children are alive, but have suffered severe shock. They are currently being cared for in a regional nursery while awaiting further measures.
“The group was returning from a talent competition. We have already contacted the director and have received confirmation that everything is fine with the children.”wrote Proshunin.
Recall that the derailment occurred due to a collision between passenger train No. 491 “Kazan-Adler” and a Kamaz truck, which unexpectedly entered a railway crossing. As a result of the accident, eight carriages were derailed.
As a result of the accident, 140 people were injured. Among the passengers was a group from Sochi consisting of 17 children and four adults who fortunately survived. Emergency services quickly began working on the scene to provide the necessary assistance and carry out the evacuation.
