This Monday, PAN submitted a draft resolution to Parliament proposing to recognise and register the colony of cats living in the Parliament Gardens and to ensure that these animals are cared for on a permanent basis by volunteers.
In the document, the party represented in parliament by MP Inés Souza Real proposed that this colony, known as “Parliamentary Cats”, in addition to constant treatment by volunteers, have an updated internal record of all the exits and entrances of the animals, as well as their clinical situation.
PAN also understands that free access to sterilization and deworming services for these animals and their post-operative medical monitoring should be encouraged, and the acquisition and maintenance of colony shelters and signs indicating their existence should be encouraged.
