Opposition supporters in central Caracas throw Molotov cocktails at police, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported on July 30.
In central Caracas, on Urdaneta Avenue, where gunshots had earlier been heard, opposition supporters clashed with security forces, attacking them with Molotov cocktails.
In response, police used tear gas to disperse the protesters.
In connection with the protests, security has been reinforced at the buildings of the National Assembly and the Central Election Committee and security cordons have been installed around the presidential palace.
It should be noted that the protests began after the victory of the current president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in the presidential elections. The opposition, not recognizing the results of the vote, took to the streets of the city, expressing their discontent and demanding a review of the election results.
In response to the incident, the Venezuelan government accused several states of attempting to interfere in the elections and violate the sovereign right of the people to self-determination.
