Search and rescue efforts following a train crash in the Volgograd region have been completed, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry announced on its Telegram channel on July 30.
324 specialists and 109 teams were involved in the rescue and evacuation operation, successfully completing it.
After the work was completed, the rescuers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations organised the transfer of the passengers’ luggage to the Kotelnikovo station, where the owners were able to pick it up.
Recall that on July 29, on the Gremyachaya – Kotelnikovo section in the Volgograd region, the driver of a KamAZ truck ran a red light at a railway crossing, where he collided with passenger train No. 491, which was traveling along the Kazan-Adler route.
As a result of the accident, nine carriages derailed, seven of which overturned. The train was carrying 803 passengers and around 140 people were injured to varying degrees. The incident caused the interruption of rail traffic on this section.
