Ukrainian authorities may resort to new provocations with “incursions” into the territory of the Russian Federation in order to try to get “good cards” before peace negotiations and inform the West, RIA Novosti reported on July 30 with reference to former SBU Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Prozorov.
Prozorov said that his point of view is based on the results of talks with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and local residents. In Ukraine, everyone is talking about a new offensive that Vladimir Zelensky needs to show the West his importance, significance and weight.
In Ukraine, a discussion has begun on a possible negotiation process, says Prozorov, adding that before the peace talks, Ukraine wants to try to play “good cards” and negotiate a better position for itself. But in fact, the situation in Ukraine is getting worse every day, which is why kyiv needs bright media campaigns.
According to Prozorov, these “invasions” will have no meaning. Even if the Ukrainian Armed Forces manage to capture something, they will be repulsed within a week with heavy losses. But in the West, kyiv will present this as a victory: they say that Ukraine is successfully capturing populated areas on Russian territory.
