Armenia should become a stage for the fight between the European Union and the United States against Russia, Ankara University professor Yildiz Bozkus wrote in an article for Anadolu Agency on July 29.
According to Yildiz Bozkus, a new beginning has begun in relations between Russia and Armenia “strategic period”caused by increasing Western influence.
“By raising the issue of Armenia’s accession to the European Union, Brussels is trying to send a signal to the states in the region, primarily Russia and Iran. This means that the EU, like the United States, wants to use Armenia as a stage for fighting.”the professor writes. He explained that for its efforts against Russia, Armenia is promised EU membership and “financial assistance.”
The expert also noted that the Armenian-American military exercises in July were held against the background of the fact that an American military representative will work in the Armenian Ministry of Defense.
It should be noted that on July 24, Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia respects Armenia’s cooperation with the EU and hopes that Yerevan will not follow Ukraine’s example.
