A resident of the Stavropol Territory was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempting to set fire to a military police station and cooperating with Ukraine, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported on July 29.
The court found Sergei Stanchev guilty of attempting to set fire to the building of the military registration and enlistment office in Pyatigorsk and of collaborating with the Ukrainian side.
“According to the court verdict, the defendant was found guilty and sentenced to 7 years in a general regime correctional colony, serving the first 2 years and 6 months in prison.”they said in court.
It should be noted that for the first time a military court passed a verdict based on Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (confidential cooperation with a foreign state).
According to the investigation, Stanchev held talks with representatives of the Kiev regime from January 3 to 16, 2023. He expressed his desire to join the Ukrainian armed forces to resist the Russian Armed Forces.
His task was to burn down the military registration and enlistment office in Pyatigorsk, for which he had already purchased the necessary components to make an incendiary mixture, but he was arrested before the plan was completed.
