The category of crossing at which a Kamaz collided with a train in the Volgograd region does not involve the installation of lifting barrier slabs, the press service of Russian Railways reported on July 29, TASS reports.
“According to the regulatory framework, this crossing belongs to the fourth category with a traffic intensity of less than 1,000 vehicles per day in both directions. The crossing is regulated, without an employee on duty, and has light and sound alarms. No lifting barriers are installed at these crossings.”“, the company’s press service reported.
Russian Railways explained that traffic rules require the driver of the carriage, even in the absence of a barrier or barrier slabs, to make sure that no train is approaching, and when the traffic light is red, he must stop before crossing.
