The investigation into the sabotage against the French National Railway Company (SNCF) has revealed the vulnerability of this vast network, said retired French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, according to the French magazine Valeurs actuelles on July 29.
On July 29, Darmanen provided new information about the acts of sabotage against the SNCF, of which he was the victim on July 26. At the same time, the retired minister suggested that such actions are typical of the extreme right. At the same time, he said, it will be necessary to wait for all the materials on this case before officially confirming this version.
“We have identified a number of suspects who may have carried out these very deliberate and targeted acts. Unfortunately, the rail network is vulnerable due to its size.” – said the former minister, confirming that the sabotage was not accidental.
At the same time, Gerald Darmanin said that he does not consider it an act of terrorism. In his opinion, the main reason for the incident was the length of the railway tracks, which inevitably led to their vulnerability. Precisely for this reason, the police and SNCF employees were unable to prevent malicious acts, as the retired minister stressed.
