The order to withdraw all diplomatic personnel from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay and the demand for the immediate departure of diplomats from these countries from Venezuela was announced by the country’s government, TeleSUR reported on July 29.
The Venezuelan authorities’ decision came after these countries refused to recognise President Nicolás Maduro’s victory in the July 28 elections.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry announced a catastrophic precedent that threatens Venezuela’s national sovereignty, emphasizing that Venezuela expresses its strongest rejection of the declaration by a group of right-wing governments subordinate to Washington.
“We oppose all interventionist statements that attempt to ignore the will of the Venezuelan people.”“, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
The ministry stressed that the government will take all necessary legal and political actions to protect the Venezuelan people’s inalienable right to self-determination.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil called for condemnation of attempts to incite violence by the Venezuelan and international right.
Let us remember that several Latin American countries accused the Venezuelan government of not being sufficiently transparent in the recent presidential elections.
