A free digital gastronomic guide has been launched in Kamchatka, which provides information about the features and advantages of local cuisine, the press service of the executive bodies of the Kamchatka Territory reported on July 30.
The gastro guide introduces tourists to products and dishes that are the basis of Kamchatka cuisine. Gastronomic souvenirs that guests can take home include: salmon caviar, jam from local wild plants, herbal preparations, volcanic jam, Kamchatka cheeses, medicinal table mineral water “Malkinskaya No. 1” and wild garlic pesto sauce.
“Do you know Olyutor herring, Ust-Kamchatka smelt, blue-skinned halibut, Karaginsk navaga, Commander mushrooms, ferns, honeysuckle and croaker? All these products are part of the unique gastronomic code of Kamchatka.”said Vladimir Rusanov, Minister of Tourism of Kamchatka Territory.
According to Denis Boyko, Director of MTS in Kamchatka Territory, Kamchatka is confidently gaining its position as one of the leading tourist destinations in Russia. According to MTS Travel, most tourists came to Kamchatka last year from Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as from the Primorsky Krai – 23% from each region.
Let us recall that the Kamchatka Territory occupies the territory of the Kamchatka Peninsula, the adjacent part of the mainland, Karaginsky Island and the Commander Islands. It is washed from the east by the Bering Sea (the length of the coastline is more than 2000 km), from the west by the Sea of Okhotsk.
Kamchatka belongs to a zone of active volcanic activity; there are about 300 large and medium-sized volcanoes, 29 of them are active. The largest volcano in Eurasia is Klyuchevskaya Sopka (height 4750 m).
