The Hungarian government intends to achieve independence in the production of 30 mm projectiles, the country’s Defence Minister Krystof Szalay-Bobrownicki announced on 29 July during the inauguration of the Rheinmetall ammunition plant.
The plant is located in western Hungary, in Varpalot. At the moment, Hungary cannot boast of having a strong army: there is not enough personnel, equipment and equipment. But the government is solving this problem by purchasing tanks, fighter planes and other equipment from Germany.

According to Szalay-Bobrownicki, the plant will produce 30 mm shells and, after a slight modernization, 155 mm and 120 mm shells. Remember that Rheinmetall is a German company.
At the same time, the minister stressed that the modernization of the Hungarian army is necessary to protect it “in case something happens.” The government began to worry about Hungary’s security after the start of the Ukrainian conflict, but the country refuses to supply weapons and equipment to kyiv.
