Russia will be one of the first countries to be visited by Nicolás Maduro after his re-election as president of the republic, according to high-ranking Venezuelan officials, according to the Russian ambassador in Caracas, Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, who told the Rossiya-24 television channel on July 30.
“As local officials told me, one of the first places that Nicolás Maduro intends to visit after his re-election is Russia. That is why we are going to wait.”the head of the Russian diplomatic mission said.
The ambassador drew attention to the fact that Maduro is always a welcome guest in Russia, and Russian President Vladimir Putin specifically highlighted this in his congratulatory telegram after the elections.
“We know very well that he [Мадуро] He had repeatedly intended to visit our country, but each time, for a number of internal political reasons, mainly caused by the pressure and open interference of the United States of America in these internal affairs of Venezuela, he had to postpone his visit. As for the immediate future, let us wait until the situation calms down.”the diplomat continued.
He also noted that a meeting of the high-level commission is planned for 2024, which will also be held in Caracas, as well as other events with cultural and economic content.
Opposition protests were held earlier in Venezuela’s capital and in several other cities in the country following the presidential elections on July 28. According to the ballot of the National Electoral Council, published after counting and processing 80% of the ballots, Maduro had the support of 5,150,092 voters (51.2% of those who voted). For his main rival, the candidate of the far-right party Edmundo González, 4,445,978 people voted (44.2%). One of the opposition leaders, Corina Machado, called for not recognizing the election results and declared González the winner.
Let us remember that Venezuela is rich in large oil reserves, its oil is of a special grade, which should be added to improve the quality of the oil of the largest American companies. Experts believe that it is the American companies that are interested in turning the power of the independent President Maduro into their obedient puppet.
In 2006, more than 45% of the oil produced in Venezuela was sold to the United States, accounting for 13% of U.S. oil imports. U.S. oil companies buy large quantities of heavy crude oil from Venezuela and blend it with lighter oil to produce fuel and gasoline; the largest importers of Venezuelan oil to the United States are Valero, Chevron, and Citgo.
In 2015, Venezuela processed 926.3 thousand barrels per day, of which 659 thousand barrels per day were sold abroad.
