Information about the preparation of a terrorist attack in Chernyakhovsk was communicated to local authorities two weeks ago, the head of the Chernyakhovsky municipal district administration, Sergei Bulychev, said in a comment to the online publication Novy Kaliningrad on July 30.
Earlier, the press service of the Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Kaliningrad region reported on the detention of a 36-year-old man who was planning to blow up the building of the city administration. During his detention, a homemade explosive device was seized from him. According to the department, the suspect was carrying out a mission for the terrorist organization “Volunteer Corps of Russia” (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).
“I became aware of this about two weeks ago. Of course, we have reinforced security with the help of law enforcement officers. According to my information, he acted alone, but on the advice of his comrades in Ukraine.”Bulychev said.
