Six people have died and about 750 have been detained in Venezuela during protests against the re-election of President Nicolas Maduro, the attorney general said on Tuesday.
Venezuelan human rights group Foro Penal said the dead included two minors, aged 15 and 16.
“The preliminary figure is 749 offenders detained,” Tarek William Saab said in a press statement, adding that most of them were charged with “resisting the authorities” and “in more serious cases, terrorism.”
“At the moment, the sad number of people killed yesterday [segunda-feira]”On July 29, there were six people, two minors – a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy,” said Foro prison director Alfredo Romero in statements to the press that were reproduced on the official website of the state organization (NGO) on the social network X.
