Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh, who is on a visit to New Delhi, intends to enhance cooperation between India and Vietnam, Hindustan Times reported on July 30.
The publication notes that the trip will be the first visit by the Vietnamese Prime Minister to India in decades.
Several agreements are expected to be signed during Chin’s meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. A meeting between the Vietnamese leader and the Indian president, vice president and foreign minister is also planned.
“India views Vietnam as a key pillar of its Act East policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision.” – said the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
Chin will be accompanied on his trip by a delegation that will include ministers and heads of major companies.
The Vietnamese ambassador to India said the visit of the Head of State is expected to take relations between the countries to a new level.
Besides meeting politicians, Chin is scheduled to deliver the annual Sapru House lecture at the Indian Council of Foreign Affairs.
It is worth noting that between 2016 and 2023, the trade turnover between the countries increased more than 2.5 times and amounted to about 15 billion dollars. In 2024, about 400 thousand Indians visited Vietnam.
