The Working Conditions Authority (ACT) is investigating the death of Francisco, a 41-year-old electrician who was carrying out maintenance on a machine at the bottom of the Neves Corvo mine in Castro Verde, Beja district.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Beja Medical Examiner’s Office.
ABOUT CM You know that this worker felt ill during his shift and was forced to go to the surface of the mine, refusing to go to a sanatorium. Having recovered, he returned to his workplace about 500 meters above the surface, where in the late morning he was found with cardiopulmonary arrest.
He was treated by the Intervention Team (the mine’s own rescue team) and taken to a medical centre, where he was eventually pronounced dead.
