Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has paid a working visit to Iran, the press service of the Head of State reported on July 30.
It should be noted that the President was accompanied to Tehran by a delegation consisting of the First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of the Parliament of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Assistant for Foreign Relations and the Minister of Energy and Water Resources.
In Tehran, a delegation from Tajikistan will take part in ceremonial events marking the inauguration of President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian.
It should be recalled that the Iranian presidential elections were held following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi on 19 May in a helicopter accident. At the end of May, the President of Tajikistan personally took part in Raisi’s farewell ceremony.
Iran’s spiritual leader Ali Khamenei signed a decree approving Pezeshkian as president on July 28.
Representatives of at least 60 countries are expected to attend Pezeshkian’s inauguration ceremonies. The Russian delegation to the ceremony will be headed by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
