Iran has sent an official letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Russia, which currently chairs the UN Security Council, demanding condemnation of Israel’s recent attacks on Lebanon, Iran’s mission to the UN said in a July 31 document.
Iran calls on the Security Council not only to immediately and unconditionally condemn these actions as criminal, but also to take urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of aggressions that threaten regional peace and security.
It also stresses the need to hold Israel accountable for its actions.
Recall that earlier, on July 30, the southern suburb of Beirut was attacked by the Israeli air force, resulting in the death of a woman and two children, as well as wounding at least 74 people.
The Israeli side confirmed that the aim of the attack was to kill a senior Hezbollah commander who was blamed for the attack that killed 12 children.
